DailyIns: Remember to Unplug

Unplug: To disconnect, allowing oneself time to rest and recharge.

  1. Mark 6:31 – “Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’”
  2. Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to forget the importance of rest. Jesus himself recognised the necessity of taking breaks, as seen in Mark 6:31 where he invites his disciples to a quiet place to rest. This teaches us that even in our busiest times, taking a moment to pause and rejuvenate is crucial.

Matthew 11:28 reminds us that rest is not just a physical need but also a spiritual one. Jesus offers rest to those who are weary and burdened, emphasising that rest can restore our spirit and strengthen our connection with God. Taking a break allows us to reflect, recharge, and return to our tasks with renewed energy and clarity.

Embracing the idea that taking a break is a good thing means acknowledging our limits and prioritising our well-being. It’s about creating a balance between work and rest, knowing that rest is an integral part of a productive and fulfilling life.

May today’s focus on “Remember to Unplug” inspire you to take deliberate pauses in your day, find peace in the stillness, and reconnect with what truly matters. Trust that in these moments of quiet, you will find clarity, strength, and renewed purpose.

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”
